Monastery of Santa María La Real

A charming town, where houses with coats of arms tell stories and legends. The typical scent of biscuit making awakens the senses whilst you admire the Collegiate churches of San Miguel, Sta. Mª La Real, Sta. Clara, Sta. Cecilia and the Church of San Andrés. Mountain landscapes, shaped by the placid course of River Pisuerga, together with the lush vegetation which extends beyond the horizon, invite visitors to hiking and taking photographs, as well as to do water sports at the reservoir or climbing at Valle (Valley) de Recuevas. Any time of the year is perfect to visit this part of ‘Montaña Palentina’; the snowy peaks in winter, the explosion of colours on the fields in spring, or the brown, ochre and yellow palette that floods everything in autumn.
